“If you’re looking for a therapist that’s compassionate, non-judgemental and truly dedicated to her client’s wellbeing Kathy is your person!”
L.V., LCSW

As a communications specialist, I specialize in helping couples get unstuck and move forward... wherever that might be. And, I love what I do.
I am a “cut to the chase” kind of person. My only agenda is to be as helpful as possible as soon as possible. And, I do that in a loving, gentle way using effective techniques I have learned and practiced over the past 40 years.
People who have gained insight and self awareness about themselves as individuals, and, as part of a couple seem relieved to have found someone who can help them use that knowledge to move out of painful, frustrating places.
Especially people who understand that “talk therapy” by itself has helped them get that insight, but, ‘we just keep doing the same things over and over’.
I work from the neck down and help people gently learn about their feelings without being overwhelmed by them. Change happens from the neck down…not the neck up. My job is to make the feelings that are holding us “hostage”, or, keep trying to “drive the bus” approachable and user friendly.
My techniques are based in psychodrama, deep trauma work, hypnotherapy, parts work (Dick Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems), and, highly effective non-traditional couples counseling (Terry Real’s Relational Life Therapy). And, each one of these prioritize creating a safe environment in which to work.

ABOUT ME

I was born on the coast of Maine and grew up there. Drew University in Madison NJ took me out of Maine, with a clear desire to end up in NYC working for Planned Parenthood.
I did eventually end up working for Planned Parenthood. In fact, as it was in the 80s, I became very adept at responding to bomb threats.
And, after living in NYC for over 40 years filled with interesting jobs, a rewarding private practice, wonderful friends, incredible educational opportunities, and experiences, I retired in May of 2020 and returned to the coast of Maine – as I always knew I would.
Retirement presented me with something my work ethic had never included: time to do nothing. But, I soon made two discoveries: 1. My heart and soul missed the work that I loved, and, 2. I was introduced to an oil heating bill.
Those two things (in that order) led me to put the word out with my colleagues that I was accepting clients, and, soon I was learning how to use Zoom. It was interesting to me that, because of my style, and the way that I work, it didn’t seem to be a hindrance.
However, I decided that I did want a simple way for people to find out about me and what I offer. And, being technologically challenged, I wanted to narrow it down to one simple way.
Free Zoom Session
I also offer a free Zoom “Get To Know Me” session without any agenda on my part. Contact me to set up a time to speak.
